Parsonages (1900-2002)
No records of the location or date of construction for the firstchurch parsonage remain, but conference journals indicate such a parsonage was valued at $250 in 1884 and $575 in 1888.
Built around 1900, at 202 Butternut, the second parsonage was an elegant, two-story affair with gables, turrets, some gingerbread trim, a sweeping front porch, and a white picket fence. Charles E. Brown and family were most likely its first occupants.
The third parsonage, a one-story bungalow also located at 202 Butternut, was built in 1923. The family of W.M. Pearce, the first pastor family to actually live in the parsonage, took up residence on April 30, 1923.
The fourth and final church parsonage, located at 1902 Elmwood Dr., was erected in 1959 with a formal dedication ceremony held on March 10, 1961. The first pastor family to live in this parsonage was John and Ferne English, and the last was that of Rev. David Black, and his wife, Amy. The parsonage was sold in 2002.
