Pastor's Welcome - From David Black

Welcome, dear friends, to the First United Methodist Church web site. If you are visiting this particular page, you might be wondering who we are and what we are like. FUMC is a Spirit-filled congregation of believers who seek to share Jesus Christ with the people of Abilene, and our world. You will find we are ALIVE with dynamic worship, strong biblical preaching, and love and concern for one another.

We believe our biblical mandate is Acts 2:42 , which says, "And they continued steadfastly in the [apostles teaching] and [fellowship], in the [breaking of bread] and in [prayers]." (NKJ) This means:

1)	We teach that the Word of God is the FINAL authority on which we live our lives.
2)	We fellowship with one another through love and care, seeking to meet the needs of those in our church family and surrounding community.
3)	We celebrate our faith in Jesus by the breaking of bread, both in the sharing of meals together and the celebration of Holy Communion.
