NEW TO FUMC?
MembershipMembership
When a visitor makes a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and seeks membership into the First United Methodist Church Family, each potential member is asked to support the church with his/her prayers, presence, gifts, and service. So, what does this really mean?
When a visitor makes a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and seeks membership into the First United Methodist Church Family, each potential member is asked to support the church with his/her prayers, presence, gifts, and service. So, what does this really mean?
| 1) | Prayers - we are called to be a HOUSE OF PRAYER, as prayer is the key that unlocks the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. It takes each of us as the church to bring about God's desire for His people on a corporate level, and your prayers are an important part of that plan. There will be times when others in our church need an encouraging word or a prayer for peace, and GOD MAY CHOOSE YOU to answer the call. Be encouraged and know that, when the time comes, we will answer that call for you during YOUR TIME OF NEED, as well. |
| 2) | Presence - God desires us to get away from the OBLIGATION of attending church and to focus more on the PERSONAL FULFILLMENT He longs to bring to each and every heart through corporate worship. When we begin to build relationships with one another, our desire to worship God with others greatly increases. As a result, you are GENUINELY MISSED by others when away from FUMC.and you genuinely miss those you have come to call FRIEND. AS ONE, we become a SUPPORT SYSTEM for one another, bringing encouragement to each others lives as we live out our faiths in Jesus Christ...together. |
| 3) | Gifts - not just referring to financial tithes and offerings, but physical and spiritual gifts, as well. While it is important to submit to a biblical lifestyle of financial giving in order to impact the Kingdom, it is equally important to recognize the role each individual directly plays in this "impact effort," as well. So, if you have a talent for teaching, the gift of song (whether instrumental or vocal), the ability to love others during times of need, or any one of a host of talents God has given each and every one of us, YOUR GIFTS ARE NEEDED in order for the church to thrive as God intended. Find out more about your particular giftings by taking our Spiritual Gifts Inventory. It is fun and informative, and you might discover something about yourself that you didn't even know! |
| 4) | Service - much like gifts, your service time to FUMC is equally valued. Whether dedicating a few hours on a Saturday morning to help with community service projects, or assisting with the preparation of a meal during our Wednesday night Event, each person has a part to play in making church life function accordingly. God has placed a DESIRE IN EVERY HEART to serve Him in some fashion, and a KIND ACT OF SERVICE goes a long way in fulfilling this basic need. |
