One of the most basic core values of First United Methodist Church is Prayer. And, while it may seem obvious that Christians should pray, we view prayer as more than just a routine of the Christian faith - it is the means of access to God's will and wisdom for our lives, church, and nation.
Our Prayer Team under girds every FUMC ministry, mission, and member with weekly prayer. We provide individual and corporate intercession, take part in continuous training and education, and provide an overall prayer foundation with clear vision for the church. We believe whole-heartedly that God answers prayer, and we encourage every member to make prayer a priority in their lives.
The Prayer ministry meets several times a week to approach God's throne of grace for strength during times of need:
In addition to these prayer opportunities, the Prayer Team holds two conferences per year, inviting a speaker to lead the team into new areas/methods of prayer. We also observe the National Day of Prayer, recognized on the first Thursday in May. And, periodically, corporate prayer and praise services are held at FUMC, during which prayer, scripture, and worship are enjoyed.

Sundays - 7:00 AM - We pray for our church family. Sundays - 10:40 AM Service - We pray for people's needs during the altar call. Tuesdays - Noon - Pray Big Country, an interdenominational group, meets in the Crossover youth building to pray for the city. Tuesdays - 6:30 PM - We meet in the Prayer Room to pray for each FUMC ministry. Wednesdays - Noon - Intercessors meet in the Prayer Room to pray for various prayer requests. |
