MINISTRIES
HealingHealing
Bringing healing and wholeness to people's lives was central to Jesus' ministry. Following in His footsteps, First United Methodist Church has always held special times of healing prayer for those in need. To increase the power of this prayer, the Good Shepherd Healing Prayer Ministry was created to provide more in-depth, soaking prayer for individuals with deeply rooted physical, emotional, or spiritual needs.
The GSHPM brings together specially trained teams of ministers who are assigned to pray for individuals on a weekly basis (for at least a 6-week period). These teams will first visit the individual seeking healing prayer to determine what type of healing is needed before scheduling a convenient time to meet with the individual for the weekly prayer session. Each team will also have intercessory prayer partners praying over them and the individual during the time of the prayer session.
Because we believe God is the Healer through the power of His Holy Spirit, and the team members are merely His vessels of love and obedience, the GSHPM seeks to listen to the Holy Spirit to discern how to pray for each individual. God loves to bless us with health and well-being, desiring ALL of His children to experience wholeness in their lives.
Surely (Jesus) took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows...and by His wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53
